I have a set of factory N-Frame M.O.P. stocks that have some kind of adhesive tape residue on them. Anyone ever have to clean M.O.P.'s? What did you use? Thanks.

Naphtha is the best cleaner, but do not SOAK them...
Put the cleaner on the soft, cotton rag, and gently rub the adhesive 'fallout' away.
Don't try anything abrasive or any bleach, or anything like 409.
That stuff is water-based, and way too strong...You will discolor mop's that way.
Good luck.

After you clean them, put a good coat of pure mineral oil on them. It's sold at the pharmacy as a laxative. About $3 a bottle.

On second thought, odds are that the mineral oil will cut whatever adhesive is on them, and you won't have to use anything stronger.

Try "Goof Off". It is basically naptha. Sold at most hardware stores. Really takes the gummy mess left by those people that insist on putting sticker labels on things, then leaving them in the sun. Also cleans off paint in inappropriate places, etc.

I used to clean my MOP's by soaking them in mineral oil. I experimented with a couple of tooth-whitening formulas to remove stains with very little success.

Mineral oil is the safest. Jewellers use that for cleaning opals.

Lacquer thinner ,mineral spirits won't hurt real MOP grips As far as cleaning them you can sand them buff them etc I have sanded out nicks & scratches then polished the up a jewelers buffer they are brittle material so be careful

My wife, a registered GIA degreed jeweler, has answered this question for me before. ONLY use mineral oil to rub in the direction of the nacer (grain). Any thin distillates will delaminated the grips after a matter of time.
