My mechanical knowledge consists almost completely of "lefty-loosey righty-tighty - most of the time".

If floods and power outages aren't enough, my Whirlpool washer quit working yesterday. No complaint about that it was old when I moved here 16 years ago, and has chugged away faithfully. But given the timing, I'm watching for locusts next.

I've ordered a new one, and would like to know if anyone has any tips to make it easier for the installation of the new one. Of course it quit with a tub full of water and clothes and I've emptied those two things. Anything other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

If you put the hose below the water level it will drain into whatever container you have.

I just replaced my washer about 2 months ago . I had the company I bought it from set it up and put it in place for me.
I think they charged me $50.00 which included all new stainless steel hoses . The hoses alone were around $30.00.
Much easier on my back that way and they took the packing box and cleaned up .
But if you're planning on doing it yourself its really quite simple . Replace the hoses ...plug it in and you're ready to go.

Unhook the electrical plug/2 water hoses/drain line.......Strap to an upright dolly and roll it out(easiest).........Tilt it back and slide a blanket under it and pull it to the door(not too hard)......Scrap dealers will give you $6-10 bucks for it.
