A buddy of mine got his CMP 1911 this week. Colt upper over a Remington lower. It is the service grade and came in a FDE pelican style case with a certificate of authenticity. It's nice. Enjoy....
Very nice! What was the final cost? Just curious.......![]()
That’s a nice one!
My number is 10809, so I’m optimistic I’ll get one of next batch. Fingers crossed.
Those and Rock Island Armory pistols make nice shooters and they are inexpensive. Military surplus and Colt's make nice pistols that hold long term value.I went with the new US Army auto ordnance, Springfield Armory GI mil spec in 2005 I got tired of the over pricing on the originals. The new AO was $389 the new SA was $424. I enjoy both, they run ammo flawlessly and everything matches.
It hacks me off when the stamping is off. Still a nice 1911.
You may be closer than you think, I got mine yesterday, and I was number 10462. Beautiful Remington Rand, matching slide and frame. In fact everything except the thumb safety, grip safety, and barrel bushing appear to be original RR Parts. The best part to me was they still had Service, Rack and Field grades available so I had a choice, this one is service grade ($1050).
No idea how that works since the estimate was only about 7,500 of the original 8,000 would be available, apparently a lot did not complete the purchase.
Anyone have an idea about the ‘MB’ stamp on the rear of the slide? It’s not an Arsenal Stamp that I can find, all the other markings including the barrel are known correct Remington Rand Stamps or Inspector Marks.
How long was it from the time they called you until you received yours? I got a call last week and was just curious how long they are taking to get them out.
They were warsman’s pistols, not showrooms.
When you’re knee deep on Iwo fighting banzais, or have a squad of Nazis 50 yards away with an MG42 blasting at you, the last thing you’re worried about is a crooked stamping on your pistol slide.
