Pilgrim,
You probably know, but polenta is just yellow corn grits coarsely ground. I happen to love grits, white or yellow. My wife's grandmother who lived in SE Missouri would cook yellow corn meal or grits (which ever she had, but her corn meal was locally ground so it was much coarser than store bought stuff)
Very timely:
Two days ago a lady friend gave me a Mission Impossible - Find her some COARSE GROUND Yellow Corn Meal - I believe she really means Grits Grade Grind.
She claims the coarse grind makes better corn brad - like she knew long long ago when growing up on farm where they had their own hammer mill for grinding.
Super Duper big grocery - NO IDEA.
Mennonite store - did have some by Bob's Red Mill that were not a finely ground as their store packed corn meal.
I think she wants her's ground like GRITS.
May try to find a nearby feed mill that grinds - I remember putting ground corn in chicken feeders for Grandma (long long ago) YES, We do KNOW that field corn is different from sweet corn. Add enough bacon grease and we could eat card board packing ...
This is what makes this forum great - diverse and varied queries and knowledge.
