Why are some Coast Guard ships white and others black?
As I remember, Bouy tenders, canal marker service boat and
Barges, Buoy Boats and LCMs shall have black hulls above the upper edge of the antifouling paint.
Cutters and life boats have white hulls.
RIBs are orange or grey or black
White and orange are on law enforcement / rescue duty vessels, and black for maintenance duty.
I guess it's because white hulls don't look good being scraped up by bouys and pilings, so they paint them black.
Never heard that oneA tip of the hat the the black-hull Coast Guard from a white-hull veteran.
Besides, if they weren't painted black, we couldn't have the acronym "BBBBBF."
