I don't normally watch these videos nor do I comment on events like this, but I was stunned by the footage. I do not have LEO experience but I have friends and acquaintances who are career officers, and I think this video is a prime example of what officers could face on a daily routine stop. I want to sincerely thank all of the men and women here in the law enforcement and military communities for your service. I truly hate to see anyone shot but I think most would agree this officer acted appropriately and swiftly. Seemingly normal turned into "shots fired" in seconds and I'm glad this officer had the training and skills to draw and fire that quick as the rifle nearly hits him. He maintained his distance afterwards and regained/maintains his composure while assessing the situation. I just wanted to applaud this officer and am thankful it wasn't a loaded rifle that was used against him.

Had to watch it a couple times and pause it to see what happened. The guy tried to club him with an AR-type rifle! Got what he deserved and I'm glad to officer is ok!

God bless and protect our Police men and women, and all our First Responders.

It looks like the magazine is on the ground near car door.I believe the attacker was loading rifle and dropped the magazine.

I took it frame by frame, there is something red by the door, looks like a hankie. He also lost his hat running away close to the front of the vehicle. Now he could have dropped a mag in the car.

Very stupid on his part to attack an officer with an unloaded weapon even if he dropped the mag. I am surprised he did not take a trip to the morgue.

Loaded or unloaded, pellet or real firearm you point it at Law Enforcement you deserve to be shot. They don't have time to see what's going to happen their life is on the line and they have the right to protect it. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

That is why I called it stupid. Realizing that some guys are very stupid it still amazes me.

Glad the officer is safe.

This guy...not so much.

First time I watched it, I jumped a mile when the LEO came around the corner of the vehicle, and I scared the poo out of both my dogs!

Incredibly fast sequence of events, and I'm glad it worked out well for the officer. In the photo of the perp above, only by freeze-framing the video was it obvious what the guy looked like and what he was doing. First time I'd ever seen him after watching the video several times. Wow.

This a good depiction of just how fast things happen, and why hesitation is fatal. The apologists for the criminally feral simply refuse to accept that reality.
Based on what I saw when the deputy got to the right front window, I suspect he drew his pistol - he darned sure should have, and I would have. I could see the driver moving on the other side, even through the tinted windows. That is always a danger cue - anyone who opens the door, gets out, etc. is engaged in pre-assaultive movement and cops need to be prepared to address some kind of problem.
