The first Colorado peaches showed in Hot Springs on Wed. Local produce venders go down pick them up and sell them at roadside locations. And they go fast! Wife got a box, not cheap, but are they good! Some have been prepped and frozen, first fresh peach cobbler baked and enjoyed last night. Had a fresh peach at lunch today and was it good!
Just have to be careful to not aggregrate the blood sugar too much!
Cannot beat fresh summer produce!

We used to attend a car event in Grand Junction every Summer (Covid killed it), and always tried to make it out to Pallisade for some fresh fruit.

Great stuff! :D

If you're in/around CO and not driving to Palisade during peach season you're messing up.

If you're doing it right, you're going around to all the wineries to sample the juice, and then camping in the desert or on grand mesa (and fishing for your dinner)

If you're really, really doing it right, you're selling it as a double date with a couple where one of them is recently pregnant, and also conveniently the one who is driving. Not that I'd know, and not that I'd be finishing up one of the peaches as I type.

Brings back good memories, Palisade peaches are the best. Lived in Northern Fl for a time and everyone was about Georgia peaches. They just haven’t had any Colorado peaches. 😎
Was raised in South Park, graduated from HS there. Lived in Bailey and Lakewood for many years.
Good memories, thanks

Lakewood's a bit different, but Bailey is still very much Bailey. May be moving up there in a couple years depending on the breaks. Spent today fishing in Fairplay, I'm both amazed and delighted it's been able to keep much of the Breck influence to a minumum.

Peaches this year have been awesome. We get the Chambersburg Pa. peaches locally but Sam’s Club has a California peach that is to die for. Just finished a bowl of ice cream with the Cali peaches and our back yard blueberries. I died and went to heaven,,, sigh.

Every other day, the wife or I have to go out and rake up the peaches on the ground from the neighbors tree that hangs over our fence.

Our little dog likes to chew on them and we don't want her to swallow the pits.......

and, yes, she does like peach cobbler.

We had fruit trees when I was a kid and every now and then the peach tree would produce. I’d mow a lap,eat a peach, mow a lap,eat a peach ,mow a lap eat a peach…urp!

I tried them the one time I happened to see them. I thought they were okay but nothing to write home about. Weird texture inside the peach. Certainly not as smooth and juicy inside as Georgia peaches.

Not a hater. Just something I wouldn't miss going without.

A few ago I got some CO Peaches while out roaming around.
A day or so later I was sitting in the McDonald’s Parking lot in Cuba, NM drinking coffee, eating a peach and checking my email.
I detect I’m being watched!
It was a guy in the next car.
Cuba is near the Navajo Reservation. Big Rez.
It was a Navajo. They have notoriously poor diets.
So I stepped out and gave him a Peach.
Makes me want to head for Chama and get some peaches.
