Colorado's new gun control legislation

Sadly, this is very true. The rest of the states will follow, in time... Brainwashed and stoned is a bad combination.

Hmm. Sounds vaguely familiar....

Striking down the state pre-emption is going to be a nightmare for legal gun owners. Criminals will just carry on.

I already avoid Denver and Boulder if I possibly can.

And Biden says he wants to ban ALL semiautomatic weapons. Handguns and rifles.

There's currently a newly instituted concealed carry ban in part of Jeffco. It carries no more weight than a ban at your local reataurant. It's a considerable amount of acreage where the ban is to take effect. There's no way that enough signage can be posted to cover all entry points. Violation of the proposed ban is a mere misdemeanor and the sheriff said there's no way he would even try to enforce it.

Meanwhile Colorado is watching a lawsuit in NY that is similar to our ban. David Kopel is on top of things here in Colorado. He has argued numerous 2nd amendment cases in front of the Supreme Court and is waiting the fallout of the newly passed bills in Colorado.

Virginia had preemption and it was great. Two years ago, the new legislature overturned preemption, now we are back to a confusing patchwork of firearms carry restrictions.

Since Colorado law doesn't require firearm registration it would be in one's best interest to buy whatever and as much as they want that is currently legal. This includes currently legal magazines and ammo.

IMHO local jurisdictions would have even less ability than the State to try and enforce any new laws after the fact. Any newly prohibited items would have to be grandfathered in and wouldn't matter anyway. Unless everything is "date stamped" (like the failed attempt with MAGPUL) there is no case.

I'm sure a few places will attempt to exercise these new laws but they will be shown to be unenforceable as a solution where there wasn't a problem.

Unfortunately, the easiest violators to catch will be what I would call " regular, law-abiding citizens " that will be scooped up in the net because they are ignorant of what their state government has been up to since the last time they watched, listened, or read the news not related to sports a year or two ago.
