Colt Banker Special 38 S&W shipped June 9, 1931 to Railway Mail Service.

My understanding is that Railway Mail Service bought about 15,000 Colt Bankers Specials before WW2. Most were destroyed, very few survived and many had markings removed from backstrap.

Question: What was Colt's name for 38 S&W? 38 Police? 38 New Police? I know 38 Colt is a totally different round!

Local shop had a nickel Bankers Special with pearl grips for like $250 a few years ago. Wish I’d bought it. They had it a while.
