Colt Commando

Anyone seen these markings? 1944 Colt Commando shipped in 1944 to the US Maritime Commission. My Victory was the same and shipped and marked to the Boston PD. Any info appreciated. Thanks, Big Larry

Those markings were done post-Colt and most likely by a police or security agency once the revolver was surplussed off following the war.

I have two Maritime Commission Commandos and neither has such markings. "DPD" could be any agency with those initials...the number is possibly an inventory number.

We had three or four of these in my Iowa Army Guard unit until the M9 Beretta replaced them.
