With all due respect you might have better luck with the Colt Forum. That being said it sounds like you have a cool gun there. Photos and details are helpful. Finish. Barrel Length. Stuff like that. That serial number is likely from 1907.

If that's the serial number, it dates from 1907. They are one of the the largest Colt revolvers made in that era. They are identical to the Colt Model of 1917 except the 1917 was chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge.
The New Service was made in .45 Colt, .38-40, .44-40, .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .445 Webley and some other calibers.

A .44 Russian marked NS is an early one. Later ones were marked .44 Russian and Special.

But congratulations anyway.
The New Service was the largest frame size Colt offered, all the way up to the introduction of the Anaconda in the 1980s. It's a BIG revolver.
Mine is a Commercial Model from the 1920s, chambered in 45 Colt. Shown alone and also compared to 1946 S&W Heavy Duty N frame for size reference.

The large frame Colt revolvers are counterparts to the S&W N frame. Not sure that anyone is commercially loading/selling .44 Russian ammunition during these days of ammunition scarcity, but handloading is an option as components are available. It is essentially a slightly shorter version of the .44 Special cartridge.
