It can be all numbers, but you listed too many. Or it should have prefix or suffix letter or letters. Did you get the number off the yoke after opening the cylinder?

The yolk is the onliest place I can find a serial number.
Here is further help:
If it is not a 1 as the first identifier, the it could be a "T" but if it is a "T" the cross at the top is smal like an "I"--if it is an "I" there is no cross at the bottom.
It has plastic grips with Colt Python stamed into both handles on the inside.
Pictures to follow ASAP.
Blessings

This colt python is a five digit serial # only. I looked it up at proofhouse.com and dated it at 1961.

Colt started with a LETTER prefix in 1969 and it would be letter "E"............. so if that happens to be an "I" it would be 1973.
If it is 5 numbers and no letter, even better... before 1969.

I will call-
I know I am an idiot but I am not blind--well, that's my story and I'm stickin to it.
The serial # is on the frame and the yolk.
It is one of these combo's:
121539
I21539
T21539
Could I have a Chinese knock-off
Nothing seems to match on Proofhouse.
I will call !
Blessings

Being an idiot you must first recognize that I don't give up and/or admit defeat---even if I have to lie.
That said--I found the web for Colt collectors. On this web they have all serial numbers for Python's thru the end of manufacture,
In my particular case, I have determined that MY gun's first identifier in the serial number is not a "1" but is a "T" and the birthdat is 1983.

No worries , you were probably just blinded by the glare off that high polished and beautifully blued steel! Welcome to the club!

My excuse is that all the blood rushed from my brain to the lower male regions---and when that happens, men don't have a lick of sense. :p:)
