I Saw one of these for sale today. It has the wrong grips and a rib silver soldered to the barrel. The work on the rib is very well done. Don't know enough about these to know if the rib is factory or not. It is marked "Shooting Master 45 Auto". Does anyone have any idea what this might be worth?

Thanks

Sounds like a bubba-rized experiment. The rib ain't factory, imo. I'd walk away regardless of the price, but that's just me. YMMV. ;)
f.t.

I would bet it is a king conversion. Years ago they sold vented ribs and different sights, cockeyed hammers and target triggers. Also done action jobs etc. They were popular in the day. Also there was a outfit called LEE that made them and they were popular to put on ruger single actions too.

Assuming that this is really a Colt Shooting Master REVOLVER chambered for the .45 auto ctg., I think Merrill is probably correct about a King conversion or something similar.

I thought it might be a king rib as well but it was not marked "King". The bluing on the gun was very nice, at least 95%.

I think a Shooting Master with a rib would be worth some study. Some folks have a fondness for King modified guns. Where in IN.?
