Just received a Comp-Tac Belt Holst in the mail for my 686. It sure is tight compared tobthe one for my 1911.

With the screws as loose as will go till the washers rattle it's still quite tight, much tighter than I would like it for use in competition. My 1911 holster the gun could fall out if adjusted so. The 686 could never fall out. I can't come close to shaking it out.

Anyone else have the same issue or did I get one that's out of spec?

Can I do something to loosen it? Put it in the oven for a while?

What I do is get automotive tubing and cut new longer spacers for the holster. They seem to come tight enough for a K frame, and too tight for an L frame. The longer spacers force the holster open slightly to fit the L frame. A hair dryer or shrink tube heater can be used to soften KYDEX to reshape it, but go easy on the heat until you get the hang of it.

I like the new spacer idea. I'll give that a try first. I don't want to take heat to it quite yet.

Agreed on the K/L frame fit.

You may try to check with Comp-Tac, too. They may have handled this before. I wonder if a revolver holster will ever be as smooth as an auto holster, with the recoil shield kind of "sticking out" more.

I have a Comp-Tac belt holster for my 4" 625. Fits great. Adjustable from no drag to fully tight. You might check with Comp-Tac and see what they have to say.

I emailed Comp-Tac And asked if they could send me longer spacers. They replied saying they would do so and also include longer screws as well. They also told me to contact them if it doesn't work with the potential to make me a replacement holster.

I'm very pleased with Comp-Tac's reply!

Hopefully te spacers will take care of the issue.

I installed the longer screws and spacers and have plenty of adjustment now. It can be loosened to fall out or cranked down tight. Pleased with Comp-Tac.
