hello' i finally got me some money stuffed away in the kitty. i would like to buy another 29. i already have a 29-3 6" nickel. those 29-10 sure are nise looking. how are they purformase wise. i don't care for the lock's! but if it's a good shooter and durable i would over look smith & wesson's lock mistake. what i'm asking is if you had the money would you buy one. i greatly respect your knowledge of smith's and would like to hear your thought's.thank you

Looks like those 29-10s are selling for $800+. For that money I would not buy one. Rather, I would buy a nice model 29-2 -- P & R, no MIM, and it has some "collector value".

However if you live in a state that mandates locks on new guns, or if the S & W Lifetime Warranty is important to you, then the 29-10 may be your ticket.

If I was going to buy a current production S & W .44 mag to shoot a lot, I'd go with a stainless model 629 for a hundred or so less cost.

There you have it - my thoughts. Good luck on your purchase.
