I bought this M&P9c 8 years ago and it has been my main carry pistol. Recently my LGS got in Springfields new Mod2 version of their sub compact XD9. I liked it so much I bought it and compared it to my M&P9c.
Pros
Magazine capacity is 13 with the flush magazine.
The sights are better out of the box.
The trigger is much better.
Has a stainless slide that looks like stainless.
Comes with all sort of extras.
Cons
M&P is better looking
M&P is more streamlined
M&P has more holsters available
It's frigid here so no range time yet but I expect it to be at least as accurate as the M&P. I've owned a couple other XDs and they shot quite well with 100% reliability. In the springtime I'll post a side by side range report. Appearance wise I find the XDs to be boxy and ugly like Glocks, but this new one feels great in hand. I've often wondered why the M&Ps have stainless slides Melonited, why don't they leave them plain stainless like their Gen 3 guns of old? There are so many really good polymer pistols now on the market that I like to mix things up and try different products.
