I have a 9mm shield looking for a conceal carry holster that I can tuck my shirt in. Something like the sneaky pete. I don't want to get undressed just to get to my pistol. I have the Alien holster now an it works great but there are times I need to tuck a shirt in. Thanks to all

A tuckable holster is by definition an IWB design. The best value I've found in tuckable IWB holsters is Kholster. They come with more leather than you'll usually want, so after getting it set for ride height and cant you just use an Xacto knife to cut away the leather that would interfere with getting a good and quick grip on the gun. Check out Kholster Holsters: Crescent Holster, Infinity Tuckable Holsters

The CompTac MTAC is more elegant with better hardware, and slightly more comfortable because it's lined on the parts against your skin. But it's more than half again the price of Kholster. See Inside Waistband Holsters - Minotaur Holsters - products new home - Minotaur MTAC Holster

Both of these are available for the Shield. I have both types (but neither for a Shield), and prefer the MTAC. But they don't make one for the J frame revolvers I carry the most, so for them I have to use a Kholster.

For a tuckable design, check out the Rosen Workman holster. Its one of if not the original tuckable holster. JMHO, but the sneaky pete contraption is clownshoes. The clip is not secure in a physical confrontation and the whole thing screams "gun" as loud as a fanny pack or photographers vest. I think that a secure holster/belt/ammo carrier system with a wardrobe modification (or ankle/pocket carry for NPEs or inflexible dress codes) is the most reliable, responsible and workable solution. We carry our tools to protect our lives and the lives of those that matter to us. Pro grade carriage is preferable. Again, only my 02 based on my experience, not a shot at anyone who holds a differing opinion.

I believe he's looking for a holster in which he does NOT have to untuck his shirt in order to get to his pistol. Something along the lines of the Sneaky Pete. And with that in mind I don't think I've seen any other than the Sneaky Pete or maybe a fanny pack.

I would think a smart carry type of holster would be something a person would not need to pull out their tucked in shirt to gain access since the shirt is tucked in behind the holster.

Biggest downfall is you have to reach in to your pants to retrieve the firearm. With practice it can be retrieved one handed, but it's not as fast as other methods. Depending on the how the person's pants fit, a shield may or may not be too tall for such a location. If too tall a person could look a bit too happy.

Another option to enable leaving a shirt tucked in is if the pant's pockets are large enough, then pocket carry could make the criteria. The Shield may or may not work for that depending how the pants fit.

Another method is ankle carry, but it is very slow to retrieve and does not work with shorts.

Last option is OWB with a cover garment. May not be a good choice when it's 100 degrees out.

Hope you can find something to meet your criteria.

I have the same problem. I prefer to tuck as it looks more professional and dressy than a loose shirt but not always feasible.

I too have the AlienGear and it works great for carrying IWB but is a little more difficult to tuck. So, I bought a DeSantis Sof-Tuck. The single clip makes it a little easier but still find that I don't carry all the time when I want my shirt tucked in.

I honestly don't believe there is anything that is better than what I have of the two choices - it's just something I'm going to have to get used to doing if I want to carry & tuck.

My choices (top left-right) BladeTech with paddle attachment, DeSantis Soft-Tuk, AlienGear hybrid - tuckable, Gould 803-MP.

Yes Ray that's it exactly. My concern is that I heard the Sneaky Pete holster fit hits the button an ejects the clip. But as always don't know if this is true. I am not to worried about size. Just as I stated there are times I need to tuck in a shirt. Thanks to all :)

I have a DeSantis Sof-Tuck for my J-Frame, and it just gets uncomfortable whether or not the shirt is tucked. I have managed to get through weddings and funerals with it, though. Otherwise, I'm an OWB guy.

Look up Gunners Custom Holsters on Facebook. I have 3 of his holsters. They are thin kydex and can be ordered with a tuckable clip, which is what i have. Very pleased with his quality and he ships out fast. I have an AlienGear that i cant stand to wear. Its a great holster and i tried it for months. I cant get used to the bulk of the leather pad against me. Just seemed to add more bulk than was needed to get the job done. Im not knocking AlienGear, just didn't care for it for my style. Gunners are lighter and tuckable. Might be worth a look at least.
