I just got my Consealed Carry License here in Florida. I have a M640 with a Clip Draw attached. Being an older fat guy I'm concerned about printing. Being retired I dress for comfort which is a t-shirt and sweat pants. I feel most comfortable carrying at 3-4 o'clock for both drawing and feel. Are there any tips that works for you guys? I do have a bit of a lump on my right side when carrying. Not super big but I would rather no print at all. Thanks guys. Any suggestions welcome.

Congratulations on selecting an excellent firearm. As a new concealed carry person, you are far more aware of your firearm than anyone else. I would recommend you purchase clothing that makes you more comfortable when carrying. Perhaps a larger t-shirt will help. The main thing is you have to realize that most people are not looking for a concealed firearm or notice printing. It is a phase we all go through when we begin carrying concealed. The fact you recognize you need to avoid printing is exactly where you should be at this time. My wardrobe has changed a little to accommodate my everyday carry firearms, kinda comes with the territory. Good luck.

If you're just clipping the holster to sweat pants, I would be more worried about retention than printing. Printing may be embarrassing, but having the holster slip off is more so.
I like to have the holster attached to a good belt if carrying at the waist, which is easy with any pants that take a belt.

SilentKnight is spot on....99% of people aren't looking for a weapon on someone, and with cell phones etc getting bigger and usually on the belt, people don't think twice about a bulge under a shirt. Go forth and do good.

That's darned good advice. I'm about to go from an S&W E-Series 1911Sc in a Miami Classic II shoulder rig to a 2-1/2" Model 66 in a Lobo Model 1 Dual Carry belt holster. I too was a little concerned about the gun being noticeable but after thinking about it, my gun will be smaller than a lot of today's CEL phones.

There are lots of easy ways to not have a problem and as others have said most people won't see it unless it's exposed. In the summer I wear a tee shirt and then a short sleeved regular shirt over it worn outside the pants.

Most people are too buried in their phones to see an openly carried gun, let alone a little printing from a concealed one.

Another thing I have noticed, you can print in a HUGE way and people still don't think "hey, thats a gun."

Prime example: I am a volunteer EMT and carry daily. On one particular day, we had a falls call and I was wearing a flannel and a 2" N-frame which prints a little naturally. On this call, we had to log roll the PT onto a board, which means kneeling, and bending completely over at the waist. Being a skinny dude, that shoves the handle/gun about 6 inches out away from my body (I wear longish flannel so it won't expose).

After the PT gets packaged up and sent on their merry way, I turn to the other FD guys and say "Wow, I bet you can tell I am carrying today". Not one of them noticed.

I no longer care about printing (unless its very windy, then I try to keep the shirt buttoned, or at least held in place).

Dressing more appropriate is the key in my mind. Summertime I wear a T Shirt and cargo shorts. My J frame is in my front pocket, or on my belt at 4 O'Clock under an open short sleeve shirt or even a light weight vest. The most important thing is a proper belt if you are not going to carry in a pocket.

I think Gov. Scott in Florida singed a bill that makes momentarily exposing a concealed weapon as not an infraction.

Well really, should that matter? After all, it is concealed carry that requires a permit or license - the right to keep and bear arms is given under the Second Amendment, right? I was always told that exposed carry is legal, at least here in Pennsylvania.

Open carry is not legal in FL. I agree with H Richard.

I don't worry about printing anymore. I did when I first started carrying, I think everyone does. I've never, ever had anyone give me a second look. And I don't wear baggy clothes so most of the time I'm printing, a little.

People are too worried about their cellphone to give you a notice. Don't worry about it.

I usually have a fair size multi tool/knife in a belt carrier. I got one of those "tactical" flashlights for Christmas & found an old razor knife belt carrier that it fits in just fine...bulb end up. The funny thing is, when I wear them together (knife, then flashligt) it prints like an automatic under my tee shirt. Not one person has noticed or at least said anything about it, so I wouldn't worry.

@ OP,

I am not overly concerned about printing. When I carry, I either carry a J frame, a 439, or a 1911. Fortunately, due to accident injuries, I now wear my clothes a bit baggy 24/7. What was once an XL is now a XXL. Being retired, my typical dress is either jeans/shorts and tee shirt or jeans and a banlon type shirt.

Note: I only carry when traveling out of state.
