What size mesh or grit of corn cob media does not get stuck in flash holes. The stuff I have now is small enough that every other case has media stuck in the flash hole. Where do you buy corn cob media of the proper size not to get stuck in flash holes?

Assuming you are using Carbide dies, so you don't have to de-grease after sizing, simply polish your brass first and then size it instead of the other way around. Any media which sticks in the flash holes will be knocked out by the de-capper. De-capping first does not allow the primer pockets to be cleaned while polishing.

What he said...... :)

I do tumble prior to sizing & decapping, I like to tumble briefly after to remove the sizing lube (I am talking about rifle cases here). I guess I will try the media suggested by the previous poster, thanks for the tip.

I use crushed walnut shell media. You can get a large box of it for $25 at Harbor Freight. It shines the cases better and doesn't get stuck in the flash holes as much. I still have to poke a few out, but it's not as bad as corn cob.

I use corn cob and never have any issues with it in handgun cases, Walmart pet bedding $4/bag, still on my first bag 15,000rds later.

I use fine grit walnut. It's available in different grit sizes. Works great in sandblast cabinets too. The finer grits don't get stuck in flash holes and actually clean primer pockets.

I purchase a 40 lb bag f ground corn cobs at the per supply store. Never had a problerm but I do not deprime before tumbling.

I use a Lee Universal Decapper to pop the primers out first then I tumble. Resizing on the progressive is a lot easier not punching primers and any media just pops out and falls into the bucket. I find that even the smallest media sticks in the flash hole from time to time. I ordered the forty pound bag from Drillspot and bought the smaller grit. A couple of cut up squares of used dryer sheets and a shot of Nufinish and the brass is shiny as gold and slippery as heck in the carbide. I still lube the rifle brass though. Stuck cases suck. I went right back to the RCBS case lube 2 from trying the Hornady One Shot case lube. Followed the directions and got my very first stuck case.

Thanks for link on media. I deprime and then tumble to clean primer pockets.
