Does anyone know of a thread or site that I can find info on what grips are correct for HEs? I have a vague idea of eras but no dates to bump them against. I have HEs from 1904-mid fortys and I know several are incorrect.
Thanks,
Larry

Thanks Lee. This will give me some good info to do myself a cheat sheet from. If I can get a somewhat cohesive chart on the standard grips for the HEs I will post it for a guick ref.

It is really pretty simple-

1896- about 1908:
Black hard rubber
or
Checkered walnut with 'concave' tops (aka 'dished'), NO medallions

about 1908- about 1919/20
Recessed Gold Medallions

1917 Model
early- smooth walnut, concave tops
later- smooth walnut, convex tops

about 1920- about 29/30
checkered walnut, convex tops, NO medallions
still some rubber on small/pocket guns

about 1930- WW II
checkered walnut, silver medallions.

Short version-
EARLY= rubber or checkered & dished
Teens (approx)= gold med
20's= non-med
30's= silver med
