There's a new black 3.5" short-butt 945 for sale the local store. They are asking almost $1700

Do the shorty 945's usually go for more than the "regulars"? What's a good price for a used shorty 945 in excellent condition? Thanks.

The 3 1/4" ones don't seem to go for as much as the 3 3/4" ones . They will go around 1100. or so. The 3 3/4" ones will go up to 1400 or so. USED.

The new 3 1/4" ones can be had on line for around 1400. There is a 40 cal one on AA that can be had for around a grand.

Sweet guns, indeed,
Bob

Okay, thanks for the info. I've found a lot of full-sized ones on the auction sites, but few shortys. I have one on layaway I was planning to buy as an investment, but now I'm not so sure if the return would be worthwhile. It's going to take me 6-9 months to pay it off, then keep it for at least a year or probably two, then can I get a significant return adjusted for inflation? I'm not so sure anymore.

I can't imagine any 945 that would prove to be a worthy investment over any reasonable length of time, unless you got it at an absolute steal...certainly not at NIB price, and definitely not within a year or two. I have three of varying lengths, all bought used at good prices, and I'll be lucky to get my money back on any of 'em in the foreseeable future. Modern-day guns very rarely appreciate in value. Put the $$ in a savings account...you'll come out ahead over that minty 945 gathering a decade of dust in your safe.

I can get it at pretty near a steal, but I'm still not sure it's worth it. Thanks for the comment.

In my opinion, the 945 is the best value/performance pistol now in production. The PC puts a lot of fine craftsmanship in these pistols as they did in all PC pistols. Craftsmanship is giving way to plastic in America and around the world. Get a piece of quality while you can. The return I get is much more than monetary. They are beautiful to look at, delightful to hold, and superb in action. I would not part with mine just for profit.
