This Costa's Hummingbird first appeared as a youngster last summer. H has been hanging around ever since, probably because I have feeders out 365/24/7. This is a bit of surprise as the Anna's Hummingbird is usually the dominant hummer in the Vegas area.

Yesterday, he posed on one of the feeder brackets under the patio and gave me a chance to snag him with the new camera. Not bad considering it's shot through glass. I did tweak the contrast and gamma a touch.

My, my, my.............
a Hummer in Nevada in February.

Whoda, thunk it ?

No hummers up here, but I still have chick-a-dee's, Hooded Nuns and a few dove, at my feeders.

Is this what you call a Hooded Nun? I think the proper name is Dark Eyed Junco.

Birds are fun to watch at the feeders and baths, but the deer around here drink all the water and make a mess around the feeders. The Allegheny Cemetery (and wild game preserve) is 2 blocks away and serves as a safe place for the deer and the occasional bear. I heard the cemetery staff hold an unpublicized culling every once in a while.
Beautiful picture with that new camera!!
