Alright the clerks office said today that my fingerprints came back and all they are waiting on is for the sheriffs office to review and issue my license number. Then it should be at the gun board. What is that? And that should only take a week or so right? And my gun board meets the 15th and 16th of March

In Arizona, I sent my paperwork in on a Monday and had my permit in hand on Friday, the same week.

Of course, AZ passed legislation last year that provides for CCW without the need for a permit.

Kind of hard to get any faster than that. :D

In Grand Traverse Co. it took about 4 weeks after turning in all the paperwork. After waiting for the Gun Bd, I had to wait about a week for the Clerk to issue the actual permit

How long depends entirely on when your application was turned in relative to when the gun board meets, and the timeliness of whichever department took your application/sent it in to MSP, etc.

Just read in today's Detroit News, that as of today, Macomb county is offering their (safety certified) residents the ability to apply for a CPL online which is expected to expedite the process. Cost is still $105. Just not sure how yer' mug shot is supposed to be submitted.

I am in Kent county, it took about 8-10 weeks as I recall a few years ago.

Well, I submitted my papers and prints on Feb. 7th. The website has shown "APPROVED" for over a week. Still no license in the mail. Guess I'll call Wayne County Gun Board, today, to see if I can pick it up. My CPL expires next Wednesday and while my receipt automatically extends the CPL in Michigan, next Thursday, I'm driving to Dallas via Kansas City. I don't want the expired CPL and a receipt to try and persuade any LEO that I'm valid.

For future reference, did you have to get re-printed in order to renew your CPL? MSP - Concealed Pistol Permit Renewal Information

My understanding is that MI CPL holders have reciprocity in all but 13 states. MCRGO - Michigan Concealed Carry Reciprocity. Although, MSP site says you should check each states' laws about specific requirements.

Yep, checked the laws. Only Illinois will give me trouble - have to be locked and stashed.

I was printed, this time, on an electronic print scanner.

Still haven't gotten the CPL in the mail... :(

Michigan law says up to 45 days to clear MSP check. In Lenawee the board meets 3rd Friday of the month. I turned my application in the Wednesday before and got my approval letter a week later.

However I understand there has been a huge demand for licenses lately ( February & March) and the MSP is swamped with BG checks.

You guys/girls are lucky...here in Nevada (specifically Clark County), it can take up to 120 days (ya...4 darn months!) for them to issue a permit.
