Never actually bought a gun at a gunshow. Do actual dealers accept credit cards or is it a cash only deal?

I see no reason why a dealer won't accept your credit card. Most of the ones that I have seen have a wireless link to do their BATFE checks and also to connect with their card readers.

Many , though not all of the gun sellers at gunshows are actual retail gunshops. I was one for years. Today , most use cell & smart phone and laptops so they can do background checks and have access to their banks so ya can use credit and debit cards.

A great deal of them would charge 3% to do so around here. Cash, generally, is King.

As others have said, many exhibitors are dealers who will take credit cards (sometimes at a premium).

The best deals often come from non-FFL exhibitors or folks walking the isles. Take as many frogskins as you can muster and keep your eyes open.

;)

A $1K weapon with a 3% upcharge adds $30 on top of tax 7% around here and $5 for the call in. $1105 total unless they upcharge after tax and call which adds another couple bucks. Joe

Not sure why anyone would limit their options that severely. Yes, some dealers will take plastic, but as noted they upcharge. Some even have a sign prominently saying that. And of course you can tell the non-gun people because they try to use plastic at a private table. Some states my not allow private sellers. But for those of us living in free America, I prefer cash.

green folding money always works better than plastic or any kind of check.

Forget checks. Most dealers won't take one.
I've seen a couple who prominently display bounced checks with the writer's name, address and account number for the world to see.

Cash is King. Most regular dealers are set up to take cards but the advertised prices are usually cash only with an upcharge added to a card (it costs them money to run cards). Also if you want to try to deal for a lower price or to get something extra thrown in the deal cash is the only way to get it!
