This old hand cannon has kind of piqued my interest. Parts, magazines, springs, holsters seem impossible to find. Still if a nice one came around at a good price I might be tempted as I have a world of 45 acp. stashed.

Any comments and what would you pay for a decent one with two magazines?

yes matt is about spot on. there is 1 in KY for $650 stainless w/2 mags and box. if he would come down to 5 and a half i'd buy it. there is a blued one doe $575 w/ 2 mags no box. hope this helps

Whassup Dawg!

I was happy to pay a total of right at $500 for my CS40. Can't remember if it was a ten spot more or less, but that was with transfer and everything.
I got two mags.

I strongly feel that I would need to pay another hundred or more to get a CS45 in as good condition. The demand for 45 is that much higher.
Now that I own and carry the CS40, all the urgency has gone away from getting the 45. My little forty is so accurate with such a short barrel, I am at a loss to account for it.

Kind Regards Always!

I got a "blued" one for $450 with two mags a couple of years ago, FWTW.
I wish I could have lucked into one with a SS slide, but sometimes you takes what you gets...

Correction

So, memory fails me.
I told you wrong. (sorry)
I got the paperwork out of the files on my purchase of the CS40
$499.00 was the agreed sale price.
There were another $77.44 in fees, shipping, taxes.
Then I gave my FFL $27 for the transfer fee.
With the money order fee and the postage, I spent a total of $611.42.
It came in like new condition with three magazines and a nice fitting DeSantis Speed Scabbard.
I spent another $115 on two more magazines, one from ebay and one from GB.
I spent about $102 more on 3 holsters from Don Hume and G&G.
Their J.I.T. holster is perfect for this gun at $34.39.
Pictures of it are on the Semi Auto Picture Thread Sticky, post 1952.
...let me guess, that was more info than you needed right?
But hey now I have all the info in one place.

Yes! Totally worth every penny of it and more.

I own both a blued CS45 as well as a stainless CS45D. Love them both - they are my preferred concealed carry pistols. Small but not TOO small to be uncomfortable to fire with larger hands. The .45 round just speaks to me - old, fat and slow with a heckava punch! :D

I have aftermarket wood grips on both, which to me make them much more comfortable for CC than the Hogues they came with out of the factory. The 6+1 load is just right for my liking as well but there are other S&W single-stack .45ACP mags that could increase the capacity if you don't mind the extra length.

The prices quoted in this thread sound about right, as it will all depend on the extras you get and the overall condition. Highly recommended!

Edit - I forgot to mention: I'm a larger guy so it's tougher to find comfortable IWB CC holsters. I use both the "tuckable" ambi IWB holster from Ace Case (rides lower for better concealment and I can tuck in my shirt) or the heavy leather RH IWB "Pro Carry" holster from The Holster Store in St. Cloud, FL (rides higher for an easier draw when my shirt is out). Ace Case always seems to have a perpetual 2-for-1 sale. Love them both.

CS45 pricing

I am not a wood grip guy but those dark colors look very good to me, thanks for posting.

I have 10 round mags for my CS45 and they work well, but hang low out the magwell, but more fun at the range. A Price below 600 is good with 2 mags.

Got mine for $500.00 and really enjoy it...a great shooter. I have pictured my CS45 with my XD45 and Model 60-15 PC. Let us know how you made out ! 3GF
