CS9?

I have not owned a Kahr pistol. I have some experience shooting the Kahr CW9 owned by fellow shooters. Some important differences between the Kahr series, and the CS9, in my observation and experience, are durability/reliability issues with Kahr, and the CS9 has a manual safety.

I have observed Kahr 9mm pistols used as off duty guns by some officers. The complaints were of unreliable feeding till a few hundred rounds had gone through, sporadic jams after that, and shavings in the dustcover from slide, and recoil spring contact. From what I heard, and observed, Kahrs customer service was not as good as S&W's. Several officers wound up paying postage both ways. NONE of those guys are carrying Kahr pistols at this time.

I personally fired some of the offending pistols, and was not impressed with the trigger, felt recoil, or accuracy.

I have shot two CS9's. One blue, and a stainless. Both reminded me of my 3913. They were reliable with various types of ammo, and accurate. Especially accurate for small pistols, IMO.

The CS series does not fit my hand well, or I would own one of each. I went with the 3913.

I would try and shoot both pistols to form an opinion were I you. Good luck! Hope this helps. Regards 18DAI.

Both the Kahr and CS9 have their adherents. The main advantage of the Kahr, IMHO is the "thinness" of the gun and the CS9 leads in everything else. I think the CS9 is a higher quality weapon. It is also IMHO noticably more accurate and reliable. I also prefer the CS9 trigger pull, but others would probably argue for the Kahr. I also endorse the CS45. I compared v. the Kahr when I bought and still shoot a friend's Kahr regularly - although they now carry a 9VE. To be happy with what you buy, try both pistols first with a variety of ammo.

I have a CS9.The biggest problem I had with it were the Hogue rubber grips that made the gun feel chunky and print when in concealed carry mode. After Big Dog perfected the CS9 Delrin grips problem solved. After approx 1500 rounds of every 9mm round imaginable NOT ONE FTE OR FTF.My friend,a City Marshall, bought a NIB Kahr to break in for a back up.In the 500 rounds he fired he had multiple episodes of every type of failure.Needless to say guess what he doesn't carry..For accuracy, reliability, and after grip correction concealability, get the CS9.You won't regret it.......God Bless.....Mike

I don't care for the Hogue grips, either. Care to post a pick/link to the Delrin grips?

Another? How does the CS9 compare in size to the 457?

I onced owned a PM9 and never had any issues. it was an excellant hideout piece.

however the CS9 is built more rugged with the alloy frame as I did not trust the little tabs embedded in the plastic frame.

They probably would have lasted a lifetime of more carry than shoot, but my peppered CS9 is more my taste.

a tad bigger for my big paws.

Here is the link for the write up I did when Big Dog finished the CS9 grips.I included links to all the pictures I took from my webshots link. They really make the CS9 feel great and are the answer to it's greatest drawback.....Glad to help.....Mike http://smith-wessonforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5201039...921060513#9921060513
