Which would you rather buy and carry - a 8mm S&W Shiels PLus or a CSX and if you feel like it, please say why. THank you!

Shield Plus due to round capacity and DA striker style action. You should consider making this a poll. Update - went to the LGS today and handled the CSX… First impression is that I don't like the smooth frame around the rubber / plastic grip. In just working the gun, I inadvertently put the right side of the ambidextrous safety either on or off… The trigger was ok but nothing great. Just the idea that the factory needs to run a 1.0 then a 2.0 of anything just to get the trigger right and any bugs fixed bothers me… Just a continuation of the customers reviews to keep the ship pointed in the right direction.

I love the idea of the CSX. The reports of the wonky trigger and mediocre accuracy are keeping me away though.

I think Smith will eventually address those issues. Perhaps in a 2.0 version or maybe a PC version.

I will probably wait for that rather than jump in.

My next new gun purchase will be optics ready, since I’m overdue to try a red-dot setup. I like the aluminum frame and cocked and locked operation of the CSX, so when S&W offers one with a red dot (or a plate) that’s what I’ll get.

As someone that owns a CSX, yes, a CSX please. Getting a bad rap for no reason. I have carried a 1911 and it is no different other than smaller. It feels fantastic in my hands for such a small pistol. Shoots great too. The people that have an issue with the trigger need to get over themselves. Unless you are shooting competition, it really doesn't matter. Train with it and it will serve you well. Plus it is a good change from all the plastic guns out there.

Also, why do you call it an 8mm. I believe you are referring to the 30 supercarry. Just say 30 supercarry. Why all the mystery with 8mm. Always bothered me when people have to be fancy.

Yes, I struggled with the poll somehow and deleting this, when Mrs. Houston had a few simple things for me to do - now. Now here we are. Thanks for your opinions.

I have both. I shoot the Shield Plus much better. Although, I must admit I have very little range time with the CSX. I just didn't transition well to the CSX in the first 100 rounds. I'm very proficient with a full size 1911, and feel I would also be with the CSX. The Shield Plus is a great shooter for me.

When I first heard about the CSX I thought "great, maybe I'll get one". But then I learned it's single action only and lost interest. Not that it makes the pistol itself undesirable but I just don't have any need for a small SA only pistol.

I have two Shields and a CSX. I like them both for CCW carry. I do believe the CSX is getting a much maligned internet rap. I have well over 500 rounds through mine without any problems. It is as accurate as either of my Shields. I also believe the trigger is non-issue. It seems to me that too many people are trying to make a match-grade target pistol out of a defensive handgun. When it comes to defending your life, a pistol needs to be reliable and accurate, but not necessarily a match accurate pistol.

So in the end, they are both very capable pistols, and you should carry what works for you.

I held the CSX and it felt like a quality gun. I just have no desire for a SA cocked and locked carry gun.

As for the trigger and the reset, I think too many people have become "trigger snobs" since youtube videos came out. Everybody wants to sound tactical. It's a micro carry gun, not a target gun. I never ride the trigger to reset on any of my guns. Yank 'em and crank 'em, as I would if I was firing them for real. The targets still get full of holes.

I love an all steel pistol. However, I didn't like the feel of the CSX, nor the fact that it is SA. A DA/SA would have been preferrable.
