I bought a .38 M&P that someone long ago added a target rear sight and a new fixed front sight barrel to. Shortly afterword I found a 4" target barrel from the same era. I had my gunsmith buddy install it for me. I didn't have a period correct grip adapter or a nice set of pre-war magnas so I put these old fake ivory ones on it for now. I think that is a two-screw sight, so it probably dates from the '30s. The frame would be from before 1910. The long barrel might be original, unless it has a number on it from a different gun or no number at all. The four inch barrel with the patridge sight would be later. The concave wooden stocks are appropriate for a gun from earlier than 1910.

So the configuration is not original in either image, but the gun itself looks to be in great shape. Somebody went to some trouble to put together the gun he wanted, and it looks like he did it very well. That gun will be a great old shooter.

Wow! That thing is slick looking, be a handy one for kicking around out in the sticks.
