Custom grips for big hands?

The thread about a 25-15 with Jordan grips got me thinking. I'm looking for nice wood grips for a round butt N-frame. I have big hands and long fingers. Hogue Tamers are the best-fitting grip I've used because of the trigger reach. I'd like some custom hardwood grips about that size without finger grooves.

Sadly I can't find anyone who sells them today. Jordan Troopers would be ideal but Herrett no longer makes them. Other custom makers don't seem to offer a grip with a closed backstrap like the Troopers. Karl Nill offers an N-frame grip in my size, but I'm told they won't make one without finger grooves or a thumb rest. And if I'm spending that much I might as well go custom if I can.

Who are some grip makers that might take me up on making something like this? As close to Jordan Troopers as I can get.

If you like Hogue maybe call and see about a custom wood set like the Tamers. I had a set of custom monogrips made a few years ago and the price was very reasonable. I know at the least they used to make a covered recoil shoulder grip, as seen below.

I didn't know Hogue made wood grips to cover the backstrap like that! I'll do as you say and ring them up

That set is from the 1980's and has a covered recoil shoulder but open backstrap. A common feature of 1970's SoCal grip makers and others. I'm thinking the round butt frame allows for a covered or partially covered backstrap but the square butt frame does not.IMG_3209.webp

I've tried a few and ended up with round butt Hogue Monogrips, both on L- (non-conversion) and N-frame (conversion). Hogue has them with finger grooves, thumb rest only, or no grooves at all, with and without stipling, etc., they have a good website you can browse.

Pachmayr Renegade were the largest that I tried. Not enough trigger reach for my (large) hands, but maybe they'll work well for you ?

I looked through Hogue's website recently but they didn't have exactly what I was after. I will try contacting them to see if they take special orders.

The price is right on the Renegades. I ought to pick some up to tide me over. My dream is something in more of a classic shape without finger grooves, with fancy hardwood.
