Cutting hammer spur

Is that a JPoint? How do you like it? Is the dot crisp? 4 or 8 minute?

I cut my hammers the same way (more actually) but I use MIM hammers because for the same size they're even lighter. S&W MIM seems to be less dense than the forgings.

Elvisjutsu, Have you considered buying a second hammer, It's just a thought and might not be that expensive. Good Luck!
PS I want to do that with the mim hammer on my Thunder Ranch 22-4 Notime2

I use the 8moa dot. its crisp enough for what I shoot with it, USPSA or Steel. If go inside for bullseye, I can see alittle waviness in the lens and the dot is not as sharp. Overall I like the JPoint on the revolver due to its size, I prefer the C-More on my Open guns, better dot and clearer lens

Thx, I was wondering because the JPoint is a plastic lense. I have C-Mores on 2 revolvers but liked the idea of the lower sight line.

Elvisjutsu,
If I was rich, I'd just buy you a Smith 642 like the one my Wife and kids bought me for Father's day a a while back.
A bobbed hammer Model 10 sounds like a great carry gun to me!
I thank you for your service to our country Sir!
Hoooooaaaaahhh!

I bob the hammer on all my carry revolvers. There are a blue million spare k-frame hammers out there, so it's not like I'm sawing up a Korth. Also, I cut a few serrations at the top of the hammer, for the ability to cock it for precision shots. Works great, and I've never had a problem. Retention holsters that use the trigger guard are everywhere, too, and this makes it easy to deal with.

I just recently purchased a hammer for my SP101 and bobbed it for conceiled carry. I also have a SW 36 with an extra bobbed hammer.

Here is a pic of the before/after.
