I'd posted earlier that a friend and I recently joined a Trap and Skeet Club about 30 min. away on MCAS Cherry Point in Havelock, NC.
A lot of paperwork to get access to the base and guns formally 'permitted'.

Seems like a great group of guys and can't beat the dues/fees...$40/yr. and $3 a round.
I've been shooting my 12 ga. Citori and my 20 ga. Superposed. I like 'field guns' and have never been enamored of the purpose-built 'game-playing' guns with the Kick-Eez and adjustable combs, etc.

There's some daggone expensive guns placed in the rack there - mostly retired military guys who evidently did quite well if their guns are any indicator. Blaser, Krieghoff, Perazzi, etc.

Anyway - not being nearly as flush and wanting a .410 to shoot skeet and pen raised quail with, I ended up having an LGS order me a CZ Drake in .410.
Reviews mostly good.
It will impress no one and is plain as a shoe.
28" is all that's offered and fixed chokes in IC/Mod, which is fine for me.
Have not shot it yet, but points well and seems to fit me.
I've owned a CZ Bobwhite (SxS) in 28 for several years and have gotten great service out of it.
I knew they were all made by the Turkish firm 'Huglu' and only recently learned the 'g' is silent in that name.

Searching around, I found that 2.5" skeet loads are considered a good deal at ~$90 a case (~$9/box), approximately TWICE what promo 12 and 20 go for.
So - I may be adding another Mec loader to the herd - already have Mec presses (600 Jr) in 12, 20 and 28.

Just checking if any of the crowd here has had any experience with a CZ Drake. good or bad.
Thanks ya'll ;)

No experience specifically with the Drake but have had great luck in general with CZ/DeHaan?/Huglu shotguns. Solid, reliable, fairly well finished, and affordable. When I was stationed at Ft. Campbell KY the shotgun range had a reloading room that members could use, and had a fair stock of reclaimed shot for target loads, cheap. Might ask if Cherry Point has something similar. The range also used to order target loads direct from the distributor for significant savings. Members could piggy back on the order and saved a bunch on shipping charges. Enjoy.
