So I spied this gem on a "local" website maybe a month ago. I figured "Somebody will snap this up quick." And it sat. And it sat. Seller knocked $25 off the original $450 about 2 weeks ago. And it sat. Somebody posted "I'm interested" so I was happy for someone else spending small for a great gun. And it sat. I PM'd if in fact it was sold and it wasn't. Phew, that's almost 100 miles round trip. "I'll be out Friday after work." I knew if he knocked off another $25, a herd of "frugalites" would trip over each other getting to it. Can't say I'm looking forward to the first 125 gr .357 romper-stompers through it, but how much time I got left in this life anyway. Joe

It's hard to believe that gun sat around for as long as it did! Great pick-up even if you did say "no more guns".

I have the similar Md 649-3 in .357 and I have no issues shooting standard factory .357s in it. And it is very accurate too. I also like the Uncle Mike's stocks too (just like yours).

No matter how much time you've got left, I don't think you suffered much on that deal - and I hope you have a lot left to enjoy having it. I might have bought it too, and I've said that "no more guns" thing myself... a few times. :D

That's one fine totin' gun. It will fit in a pocket and with 38+Ps it's fun to shoot.
I pack one when my extremely crowded social calendar requires something other than an N frame. Yeah right!! I ain't wore a tie in 5 years.

As far as I don't need anymore guns. I hear ya. I started thinning my herd. I'm doing purty good too. I sold one and bought two this month.:o

You did good. I would have grabbed that one too. My rule is to try to keep them between $350 and $400. Looks like you about did that. It's surprising how many older Smiths have been out there this Summer in that price range.

Well, if you decide that last purchase is about to cause water to flow into your already loaded boat, let me know and I'll certainly give you your money back! I have two that need company, and three sounds like a good round number to me!! Very nice ... congratulations!!!

Seller said the "2 finger" grips were original. I certainly prefer these. Ser # is BUF 40xx. I figure 1996, pretty early production. SCSW 3rd has a gap in the numbers. Joe

Pharmer,

I have BUD331x that I bought new in 1996. One of the first that showed up in SLC. The stocks are the Uncle Mikes just like those pictured on your gun. Don't care what the seller "told" you, he is wrong.

Ser # is BUF 40xx.

I think August - October 1995 is most likely.

The older no dash .38 Spl M640's from this era often had the smaller Uncle Mike "boot" grips (two finger). The .357 -1, like yours, got the larger Uncle Mike "combats". A little more somthin' to hang on to when shooting magnums.

Those grips will take the edge off but it aught to be quite entertaining with 357's.

Nice gun.
