I think I has been cooped up too long or something. Went to a local auction yesterday. Momma wanted to buy a couple of beds to put in the spare rooms downstairs. So I went with her. I didn't know they were gonna have any guns at this little "ol folks moved to assisted living last year" auction. But they did have a very few...4 to be exact. I couldn't bring myself to buy the new unfired Browning Automatic rifle in 30-06...and I surely couldn't even make myself buy the "gag" Glock 40 cal.. But I did buy the Remington 742 semi auto -06 and a really nice Mauser HSC 380. The best part of it all was my wife...ol sweetness and light PAID for both of 'em with her own "I saved this up over the last few months" money. But I found out on the way home why...She said, looking at that HSC...I really like this. I think I'm gonna keep this one....then looking at me said. got any ammo? Oh well at least I came out of the whole mess with a really nice steel and wood rifle...with a decent Bushnell scope. My daughter is coming here today...She'll probably try to glom onto it. Right now we're off to get the 2nd bed ol sweetness and light bought.. Guess I have to pay in some ways huh?

Well SA...I've been trying to convince her buying guns is my WORK...but she doesn't seem to be believing that. Went through the operation of the HSc with her.. I happened to have another mag laying around and it works. She said it doesn't drop the mags out as easy but it sure feels good to her. We got back from getting her other bed...and other junk but we can't go out and shoot. It's doing something it hardly ever does here...It's RAINING...in Wyoming!!

I would have bought the BAR over the 642, and the Glock over the 380 HSc having seen the thread on the latter on the Other Firearms forum.

Had a 740 at one time. Nice, but unrepairable if the rails go.

Bought myself a mid 70's NIB BAR in 30-06.

Any way you slice it, always nice to stumble on a nice find!

Oh the beds were new still wrapped in the plastic. We figured we would have to buy Box springs and mattresses. But all was new unused.. Wife even got new in packages sheets and pillow cases. She also bought some idiot sticks,...you know...garden tools? As far as the guns the price on the Remington 742 was 300 bucks and it is in exc condition... I have extra mags for it too. The HSc is an older model imported by Interarms in Alexandria Va. I used to deal with them quite often. Went there to buy some mags for a Swedish K SMG and while there got to shoot a Lahti 20mm gun..what fun! The HSc looks unfired and the price was low 'nuff to make me happy. Oh the Browning was New unfired and went north of 1100 bucks. Too much for me. I've got 'nuff high priced rifles. I also found a new in box S&W M-17 today for 700 bucks...but it has a lock. Don't know if I want it or not. 50 bucks less I probably woulda bought it.

I've always had an eye for an HSC, always thought they were beautiful. Some years back, found one for a very good price. Found out it hammer bites worse than a Hi Power!! I found out that it is really difficult to put the spring back in after cleaning!! Still got it though. Maybe yours will work out better, they are really nice to shoot.
