Anyone have one of these or experience with Dan Wesson 1911s? LGS has a used 10mm Razorback 5" asking $999. Felt quite nice in the hand. I've never had a 10mm, but have been thing about one a lot lately...especially with the re-introduction of the S&W 610. I reload, so I don't really care about ammo availability or cost.

What are your thoughts on the Razorback?

I have a m1006 and a 1076 . I also have a CS40 that BMCM converted to 10mm . It's not really that bad a round to shoot . For that kind of money , I sure would buy it . Even a block 10mm is going to run you around $700 , so might as well buy some quality .

I just wrote about my experience (see the post, Dan Wesson misfeed).

New DW Heritage (rz45). 150 rounds, 4 misfeeds. These are very tight guns that require generous lubrication. It's a high quality gun, no doubt.

Just for comparison: I've owned 8 Colt 1911's, all brand new. They all worked 100 percent out of the box. No break in, no misfeeds. Never had one jam on me.

This is just my experience.

I think I'd buy it. I just bought my first 10mm about 8 months ago, it's a DW Silverback and it's one sweet pistol. I'm a bit if a DW fanboy though. I've owned 3, 2 currently and have had excellent experience with them all. Maybe I got lucky but I don't think so I just think they're excellent guns. The big gripes I hear are falling metal and cycling malfunctions, not going into battery, failure to extract etc. I've said it here before but the only issue I had was some rounds not going fully into battery when my Valor was brand new but that was many boxes of ammo ago and no issues since.
I've read here by many that they dont see why a pistol should have to be shot-in and they should work right out of the box yadayadayada, like a Colt. Me, I know why that break in thing is a good thing, and why that tight slide to frame fit is a good thing, and why that barrel bushing being so tight that you are NEVER getting it off without that wrench, and that barrel hood showing absolutely no movement whatsoever no matter how hard I push down on it. All of that adds up to accuracy in what has proven to be a very reliable weapon. Believe me, that ultra tight fit isnt there to keep dust out of the gun.
DW produces guns with tight tolerances and that wear in takes it all to a higher degree of fit, micro-fitting those moving parts together even smoother. The galling I always read about is, I suspect, mostly user induced by several different reasons. Just follow DWs instructions for break-in and you should be fine.
I'd say buy it, and buy some of Underwoods 10mm ammo and you'll find out what kind of horsepower that 10mm round really has. It's a stout round and I've fallen in love with it. That poor little 45acp just can hold a candle to it.

I have several DW 1911s, including a Razorback. The pre '09 guns have the traditional, non-ramped barrels where the '09 to present guns have a ramped barrel with a better supported chamber. The older guns have serial numbers that start end with CZ...
I’ve never run any of the hot, boutique ammo through it, but it’s been 100% reliable with all other factory ammo using bullets of various profiles. Fit and finish is what you’d expect from DW.

Mine is one of the earlier, non-ramped examples.

I have four DW’s including a Razorback. Never had a malfunction with any of them. I also have Colt and Glock 10mm’s and the DW is better than either. I especially like the ramped barrel and better case head support. $1K is a fair price. If you’re looking for a 10mm I don’t think you can do better.

I have a Dan Wesson CBOB 1911 in .45ACP. It is without a doubt the most accurate pistol I've owned. Or should I say, it is the pistol that I shoot most accurately.

The fit and finish is also the best.

I'd like to see a comparison between the Dan Wesson Razorback 10mm and the Springfield TRP 10mm.
