The S&W Model 10 used to be the standard home defense and police revolver. But, with litigation being the way it is these days, a DAO version might be worthwhile. Perhaps S&W should offer double action only, bobbed hammer, versions of the classics like the Model 10.

Any competent gunsmith could bob the hammer and convert any Model 10 to DAO if you so desire. I'm sure that S&W themselves could also do it for you.

I appreciate the work of gunsmiths, but I really appreciate a gun that doesn't have to go to a smith or travel anywhere via a shipping service. That's why my Ruger ticks me off.

One of the few places where I see a Dremel actually coming in handy. Removing the single-action notch is just as easy...

Of course, buying a factory-made spurless, double-action-only hammer would/should be simpler.

I see no reason why the use of a revolver with single action capabilities would be subject to litigation. Make a DAO out of it if you like but not for avoidance of litigation.

I'm probably the last fellow remaining who might actually take advantage of the single action feature of my Model 10 for self defense. Don't wish to shoot anyone but I will be very deliberate if I must do so.
