Date of Manufacture Help

Could someone tell me the date of manufacture for a

Smith and Wesson model 36 serial number j430888?

The best anyone can do is tell you a ship date, not a manufacture date. The most reliable source of information is a factory letter. Everything else is an estimate since S&W does not ship out guns in serial number order.

As to yours, late 70s, maybe 1976 or 1977.
