Yea, I'm curious, is there a web site that has a database of info on manufacturing dates? Or is it still tribal knowledge?

I believe this is a fourth model, serial number in the 100,000 range

Unless someone has taken up the task of compiling a personal database, virtually all serial number information seen on the Internet is likely from the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, currently in its 5th edition:

$56 to join the tribe is not a lot. :)

After reading further forum postings here I was able to determine fourth model. Thanks for having a look guys

Guys the seller states it is not an antique Smith and Wesson.

I'm not sure what information he is going off of.
Anyone able to help me pin this down further

Hi There,

The .32 CF DA 4th model was manufactured from 1883 to 1909.
Serial number range is from 43406 to 282999. Serial numbers
under 209301 are considered Antique (source: SCS&W 4th ed.).

Cheers!
Webb

Does anyone have some information maybe a screenshot from a page of a book or publication that I can show this guy?

Hi There,

You can get a copy from Amazon for under $56 at this moment.
If you collect S&W's, you should have a copy of your own. Lots
of valuable info.

Cheers!

Hi There,

I'm sorry. I thought you knew. The book is: Standard Catalog of
Smith & Wesson by Supica and Nahas. The 5th ed. is the latest
version.

Cheers!

Mixup

I'll have to snag the book. The seller got the revolver mixed up with another one so he gave me the wrong serial number this was all in vain
