Day 1, 340PD has to go back...

I had a 629-4 with a similarly chattered up bore. S&W replaced the barrel. This isn’t a completely new problem.

chatter

Whoa. For my PA friends - it looks like a Penn Dot highway in Spring.

How long since you've been here? Nowadays thats a PennDOT highway year round, lol.

Ok, back on topic. That barrel is why I don't buy new Smiths.

Finally was able to pick it up yesterday and put some rounds thru it today. Barrel looks decent and seems to shoot straight. Got it soaking right now, put about 75 rounds thru it just to check function more than anything. Here's a 15-20ft target if I remember right. I'll post a pic of the bore when it's cleaned up.

Anybody know why my picture rotated when uploaded?

I have bought TWO brand new 43Cs in the last year.

BOTH of them had SEVERE leading issues and the fit and finish of both were poor. (off stamped lazer etching, terribly finished interlocking parts, machine marks everywhere)

Smith Customer Service was Rude and Extremely unhelpful.
Will not be buying any more new production smith revolvers from here on out.

Will continue to love on all of my shields though.

Interesting difference in rifling between my original barrel that was very sharp cut vs the replacement that is more rounded. Got me curious, in this pic is upper left is the original, the upper right is the replacement (carbon still stuck), bottom left is my 442 Pro and bottom right my PC 642-1.

Anytime I see someone filling out a 4473 @ a gun show on a new S&W, it’s a semi auto.

I'll admit I like the ergo's of the M&P line but despised the trigger. When we went from Glocks to M&P's at work I cringed. Luckily at
that point I had opted for a non weapons qualified post and hadn't since. The other year they moved to the 2.0's and I think they're better by far but still not my thing as I'll probably always be a Glock guy.

As hard as they try wheel guns will probably never have the plug and play of the plastic guns but damn it's hard to get a good one. My 442 Pro is okay, the PC 642-1 is fantastic and the PD is so/so at this point.
