Deadliest Sniper In Military History

Never heard of him before but am glad I have now. If he would have put a mark on his stock for every kill he would have had a toothpick at the end of the war!! It’s amazing what one man can do when he has the drive to do it and do it well!!

There were rumors of a German Woman sniper that is the true record holder. She lived in what became the East sector so he identity was disguised to protect her and her family's lives. Is it just a rumor? No one knows for sure. The Russians used a great number of women in combat (including snipers) but there are no records of female German snipers, however the Germans produce some of the finest women shooters in the world! Currently and in the days around WWII.

Quite a story, but that is one of worst produced videos I've seen.

Accomplishing all that with no scope really makes him a "stud" in my book. He probably didn't have many 1000 yard hits but he could get in close and get kill then just disappear before your eyes! I bet a lot of enemy soldiers had nightmares about him.

I can't see the video at the moment. Did they mention any distances?

There is a myth concerning snipers; they regularly take shots at extreme distance. Sure, they can take long shots, but most sniper shots are taken at less than 200 yards. No high power scope necessary.

Correct. Generally.
You only have to be able to hit your target and not get killed. Heyha the Finn was out in the woods. That famous soviet soldier (Zyetsev)was in a city, wasn’t he?

And today everyone thinks they need a high power scope to hit a deer at under 100 yards.

And at least 15 rounds of ammo.

He was a hunter. If you hunt, then you know humans are really bad at self preservation and generally clumsy in the woods. Hunting whitetails with a bow taught me a lot about concealment, patience, strategy and the most important element of killing mature bucks, how to get into and out of an area without them knowing you are there. I am sure there were people that walked right by him and never knew he was there. He clearly perfected the art of an ambush.

Finland is heavily forested and the Winter War was fought in freezing temperatures, the Finns found the optics of the day froze up too much. The Soviets didn't bother with camouflage, and since they were roadbound they tended to huddle up, making for a target rich environment.
In addition to his shooting skills he had an excellent knowledge of fieldcraft. He would put ice or snow in his mouth to hide his breath.
