I have some glasses from Orvis (I think Cabela's has them now) which feature what look to be handpainted scenes of game birds, fish, etc. A few are what they called Loop Optic glass, the rest plain, but the animals are very well done and add an outdoors spirit to the dinner table.

Years ago, I bought a glass at Trader Vic's, which I described in the Mystery Drink thread:

Many years ago, I bought some punch drink in Trader Vic's that came in a big glass shaped like a green Remington 12 ga. shell. Good glass, and the gold base had some real gold content, I think. I forget what I paid for the glass, but read much later that it was by then quite valuable. The company that made them also made glassware for the JFK White House. I think they're now out of business.

Alas, I can't find the glass, which I used to display on a bookcase. I think it vanished during a move, probably when I left my wife. But if any of you have those glasses, better write to, "Sporting Classics" and see what they're worth.

Anyway, do any of you like those glasses? If you'd wondered where to get them, try Cabela's. I view them as sort of sporting art, like my framed prints of game birds and animals. I handwash mine; the dishwasher plays heck with the scenes. They'll fade much sooner if you use the washer.
