Well the wife came home the other day and sat down and said "Just say thanks honey"Looking over my beer I thought "Uh-Oh" what did I do?She had been out shopping and stopped at the local Dick's where they had gun safes on sale and bought me one for Christmas. Two weeks ago my daughter went in labor in New Jersey and I was the Easter Bunny only I was hiding handguns all over the house because we were going to be gone for a few days. She said that was BS(her words not mine)so just accept the fact that I was getting a safe for Christmas.I guess I really don't deserve her(trust me on this). She always seems to get cranky when I bring a new gun home.Anyways yesterday I line up large son's-in-law and large fiance of a granddaughter to meet me at home when I bring the safe home.Got it home opened up the box and low and behold it's damaged.Box was perfect but it looked like it was dropped onto the edge of something very solid. It had a bulge in the back of about an inch or so and a concave dent in the bottom.I called them and the manager said bring it back and we will give you a new one.I voiced some displeasure at having to do this since I had help standing here.He apologized and stated that they would make it right.I did not act like a JERK.I got back to the store and again they apologized and within ten minutes they had another safe on my truck and a cash refund in my hand to more than enough cover my time and gas.I have never dealt there or purchased anything from them in the past.Just wanted everyone know that it is the people that make the difference sometimes not the name on the front of the building.

While I'm not generally a big fan of Dick's, it sounds like they did right by you.

Thanks for sharing.

I love hearing stories about great customer service. The man you dealt with obviously cares about his job and his place of business. Look how many people you just told of the good service you received. When he said, "I'll make this right." He did not pass the buck. He was the man who said it and he was the man waiting for you so he could see it through. I'd hire him in a second.

Buddy just bought a Savage 93R17 (the one with the thumb hole stock) from Dicks today for $259.

I find Dick's puzzling. Ours sells shotguns, rifles, ammunition but as I was told by an employee they don't sell pepper spray because it is a hazardous product.

I have very limited dealings with our local Dick's, but was pleased with a rifle I just bought from them.

Had been looking at Remington 700 Varmints in .308 for some time. Most places around my area had been wanting $599 just for the rifle. Dick's had it on sale last week for $499, including a scope, plus Remington had $50 mail in rebates on it. I couldn't resist.

Our Dick's usually has a good selection of ammo on hand. Sometimes it's not cheap, but they have it. Can't say the same for Wally - World. Our Dick's also has knowledegable associates staffing their gun room. It's kind of nice to not have to explain everything in detail to a novice.

Hmmmmm......I universally seem to always get bad service. Went in to a Dick's today.....never did find a salesperson. Looked at the other 6 customers that looked at me and said "Does anyone work here?". I finally gave up on purchasing ammo, grabbed a pistol rack for my safe and left. However, the young man at the cash register seemed exceedingly happy to take my money. I left and went to the Wal-Mart next door and stocked up. They had plenty of ammo and three ladies working the counter. All three asked to help me when I walked up. And people wonder why their business model works.....
