ok folks, I have been on a quest for years to find a pair of solid titanium hand cuffs, I know they exist, I have seen them years ago but never thought to see what brand they were. These cuffs were not aluminum either. I figure I could shed nearly 3 lbs from my uniform if I was to buy 2 pairs of these instead of the S&W and Peerless nickle plated cuffs I have now. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be great. At this point I would settle for all aluminum cuffs as well.....just not the silly ASP brand that has 1/2 the cuff made of colored plastic like some kids toy......

Handcuffs

S&W did at one time make aluminum handcuffs. American handcuff company has aluminum in both chained and hinged. I carry a set of each of the american cuffs. I have never saw a titanium set.

Sorry, but the Titanium cuff went down with the Titanic.:D

But seriously, I have never seen (or heard) of them. Good luck with your search.

RightWinger,

I have collected cuffs for years and have never seen a Titanium set, but there is supposed to be two types and there are a few aluminum sets that can get pricey. If you want to learn about all types of handcuffs, a collectors' site is at: Handcuffs.Org

Handcuff collecting is a big field and almost as much fun as collecting S&W handguns!

I have a set of the aluminum ones. They are a standard set of Peerless, but made of aluminum and with the S&W logo. I have used them pretty hard, as I finished up my career in plain clothes. I bought a minimal Ken Null belt carrier, and wore them as part of my EDC; they're super light. I still keep them in my "man purse/war bag" that goes everywhere with me. Been retired for three years, and if I ever have to put hands on somebody again it will be too soon... but you never know.

I am continually amazed at the interest shown every time somebody examines them. I have turned down a lot of offered money for them; people in general, but especially cops, find them fascinating.

Retired 1990 and still have my "Airweight" S&W handcuffs. As I recall I bought them at the factory when I was at the Armorer's School in July 1974. You couldn't buy them for any amount.

contact s&w they may want to set up to make them . I would say from you cops it would be worth their effort

I bought a set of Aluminum Airweight S&W 'cuffs in 1973 or 1974 when I was a USAF Security Policeman. They weight 3.75 ounces. I used them in SE Asia for a year and for 25 more years after that as an LEO. Only problem I ever had was sending them to the laundry in my suit pants when I was a detective!
I did engrave my initials on the sideplate some years back to prevent loss.
They worked fine, and have shackled some very bad guys.

The only pair of titanium handcuffs ever made were the FN herstal from belgium these were made in the 60s smith and weston made the 925 and 926 in aluminum peerless also made a set and american handcuff
