I occasionally trade guns with my now retired assistant chief. He's been drooling over my 65-2 since it fell in my lap a couple of months ago. Today, he made me an offer I couldn't turn down.

He got my 65-2 3" revolver.

I came home with this.

The trade was straight up, no boot from either. So, I've got $600 in the Model 57. I liked the K frame, but I'm a sucker for an N frame.

As said in Dances With Wolves "good trade".

If you were "horse trading" at least one of you would have ended up with a Colt's. :D

You did great! If .41 Magnum ammo was more widely available, it would be on my list!
My .41 Magnum ammo comes from my loading bench! :) It is an easy cartridge to load, components are readily available and I stocked up years ago. What supply problem???

Like you, ammo availability isn't generally a consideration as my basic premise is if I plan to shoot it I plan to load for it. I don't now nor have I ever loaded for 41 Mag, but it would be easy enough to start. I'm not a big proponent of N frames either, but that deal would tempt even me.

Me, too. I've loaded for this caliber for years. I also cast my own bullets, and I have a spectacular old H&G 215 gr. SWC which casts the prettiest bullets I've ever seen.

I was going to grab some ammo today and run up to the range, but it started raining. Maybe tomorrow depending on the weather.
