Direction of 15-22 Flash Suppressor Spacer?

I recently got the tax stamp for a Spectre II suppressor to use on my 22 Compact and 15-22. When I removed the factory flash suppressor from the 15-22 to install the Spectre II I did not pay attention to which way the factory spacer ring was pointed, concave side towards the tip of the barrel or towards the stock.

Which way does it face from the factory?

Stop. Don't use a crush washer with a suppressor. You need a proper spacer that is flush on both sides to ensure proper alignment to avoid a baffle strike. The 1522 threads are cut too long for most rimfire cans requiring a proper spacer.

Funny, never had an issue with the stock spacer that came with the original flash hider on my 2 w/dedicated cans. i just screw them down hand tight and check for tightness every hundred rounds or so. never had an issue with baffle strikes and i have a LOT of suppressors. measurement screwed in hand tight is right on track just like the flash hider. i have an older, prolly first run production 15-22, maybe they changed the length later, but just FYI i have no issues. you could just put any type of washer, black of course, and screw her down if you feel necessary. you don't have to go out and by a YHM $20 flat piece of metal, when lowe's has them for .14 cents a piece in different thicknesses. just measure and ge the right thickness.

My post refers to the spacer for the factory flash suppressor.

For the Spectre II I use a threaded spacer from Silencerco that I bought from the shop that sold me the can.

i use what came with the rifle if i were to put the FH back on.

The factory rifles come with a crush washer that "points" toward the shooter.
The larger side goes to the flash hider, muzzle brake, Etc.
DO NOT USE a crush washer with a sound suppressor.
Do not put a pistol suppressor on a rifle without the correct spacer.
Just get a .223/5.56 can that you can disassemble to clean.

What happens if one used a pistol suppressor on a rifle length thread?

I had very poor performance from a suppressor I bought, basic design but custom ordered with the longer rifle thread, but I never actually measured it. When the performance was lacking I gave it away (legal where I live) and made a new one which worked much better mysel (legal where I live).

Could the thread have been shorter pistol thread? I honestly never bothered to check.

You will get very poor performance from a pistol can on a rifle since the threads will more than likely bottom on the first (most important) baffle or be too close for proper operation.

Ah jeez. That was probably it then. What a waste of money. I could have either spaces it or sent it back for correct threading.

As I said I ordered it specifically for a rifle so assumed that was what they sent. I should have checked.
