I received my M432UC from the service dept on 9/10/24 after six weeks. The next morning I took it to the range to make sure they had fixed the misfire problem due to light strikes on the primer. After shooting only 22 rounds, I packed it up because of two misfires. It’s not fixed! The primer on each of the misfires were barely touched by the firing pin. This is why it was sent back to S&W in the first place. The repair order said they replaced the pin.

OK, now what should I do? Send it back again for another six weeks wait? Replace the pin with an Apex extended pin? Any other suggestions? I really like this revolver and want to make it my carry pistol but I can’t trust it until it’s reliable.

Sorry to hear of these troubles. Over the last few years I have sent two revolvers back to the factory. Both times the repairs were quick and perfect. One was warranty and one I had to pay for however, the cost was WAY less than I was expecting and frankly less than I think the work was worth. Nothing but good to say. I would give them another shot

My son sent his 632UC back twice for light strikes and shooting way left. After the second try it was still not right and now they are sending him new gun. My 432UC has been flawless.

Just to rule something out, what ammunition have you been using? Magtech .32 S&W Long has been reported by many to have hard primers.

If you're still having problems with domestic primers, I'd probably take BKLooney's advice and just swap an extended Apex firing pin in.

Back to S&W again

As of 3:24pm, my revolver is in the hands of FedEx on its way back to S&W. We will have to wait and see what they do. I’m not going to get my hopes up for a good answer from S&W. I’ll follow up with a post after it comes back.

I was using Magtech 32 longs and reloads with CCI-500 primers. I shouldn’t have to restrict myself from using any factory ammunition or good quality reloads with any primer. There are five other 32H&R S&W revolvers in my collection that have been fired many times without any problems using my reloads. When I get back and it still malfunctions, I’ll give up on S&W and try the Apex firing pin.

My M-66 is in for repair now. Brand new and I won't have it for a few month. After reading several reports about
S&W returning firearms from service and they are not fixed, I am concerned how mine will come back.I really like S&W handguns, but with service like that I may look for options in the future. They need to fix their service system. To buy a new revolver and not have it for months is unacceptable.

Few years back I got a brand new Model 48 classic series had horrible runout and multiple failures to fire immediately sent it in for warranty work turn around was approximately three weeks if I remember correctly. The revolver was returned and yet it still had multiple failures to fire with numerous ammo types so back it went and they seemed to have rectified the issue. Good luck with your second return hopefully they get it corrected it’s very frustrating. Remember warranty work is faster then returning for paid repair/ gunsmithing services.
