Posting this on behalf of a friend: He has a Model 66 with 2.5" barrel that was purchased in early 1975. When looking up the serial #, he encountered a discrepancy. The book he is using (I assume one of the Supica's, Standard Catalog of S&W) says the revolver should start with a serial number 2KXXXXX. The serial # off his revolver starts with 82K1XXX. Would anyone perhaps know the date of manufacture for his revolver? He his in belief the 2.5" versions were not manufactured until late 1974.
