Son, SAFirman and I did a 3 section display for the SWCA Tulsa Symposium entitled "Collecting Distributors". We wanted to spotlight some S&W distributors who had enriched the S&W product line through their huge buying power. One section of the display was on the John Jovino Co. (posted earlier in this same area of this forum). A second section was on the Wolf & Klar company (photos in the 1896-1960 area). The center section seen here was dedicated to distributor specials--where a distributor creates an exclusive model variation for their markets. While this topic could fill entire truck convoys, the examples we presented (mostly from SAFireman's collection) were the following:
Rex Firearms
Pre 27 Pinto (1955)
Ashland Shooters Supply
66-2, 3" (1985)
Canfour
629-5, 2.5" (2000)
Lew Horton
66 (1989)
629-3 Mag Comp (1992)
657-4, 3" full lug (1998)
RSR Group
66-5 3.25" (2000)
66-4, 3" (1994)
66-3, 3" (1988)
(Note: I don't want to be caught stereotyping but I think my son, like many firemen is drawn to shiny things.)
