I got to pick the movie last night and we watched District 9.

It's produced by Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings trilogy), and very well done in a documentary sort of way. If you like "different", this action/sci-fi is for you!

Here's a bit about it: D-9.com

I'm hoping for the sequel... in three years. :D

I watched that last week and enjoyed it a lot. There is indeed room for a sequel, and I hope the team that did this movie gets around to making it.

Definitely better than your basic robot and ray-gun movie, though it certainly delivers at that level. Kind of like "The Fly" meets "The Office" in South Africa with messages about how to deal with unwanted immigrants and the criminal elements that exploit them. That sounds less promising than it actually is. This is a well-made flick, and it has been nominated for some BAFTA awards (the British Oscars, sort of).

Intresting is all i can say,Yea that about sums it up.There is a another movie that comes to mind when i use the word intresting.Avatar,it's a slow starting but gets better movie.Oh and has nothing to do with the cartoon that my som watches on the cartoon network, something about air bending or something along that lines.

Now can anyone tell me about sherlock holmes,i want to see it but i want opinion before i shell out good money to go see a flop.

We rented this one a couple of weeks ago. I kind of like it too. It is a different type of movie but a the end I was hoping it would continue on. I guess we have to wait for District 10 to see what happens.

Thought it was a really refreshing and creative change from the usual sci-fi schlock shoved down our gullets. 2 thumbs up here!

I saw it friday night.Thought it was real good.My son liked it so much he watched it again Sat. morning.

I'm not jumping on the bandwagon here. I want the two hours of my life I spent watching this movie back. I didn't care for it at all. I put it right in the same category as "No counry for old men". I want that time back too, Shoo

I saw it in the theater and loved it, watched it again on Blu-Ray and loved it even more. I can't wait for District 10.

I just watched "Moon" - another great one.

I went and saw this film with my teenager. I got to tell you I really struggled with it. In the first half hour I suggested we leave twice. We didn't. My reaction to it was so odd, I read reviews prior to going, and I went really based on the people who made it. I love movies.
What really struck me was they managed to create a movie without any sympathic characters, the story line and the docu style carried the viewer forward. The "special effects" were seemless. The story telling device was so effective my sense is to many people this is quite off putting.
In retrospect I also recongonize that this film asks the viewer to examine his/her own bigotry which can also be unsettling for those of us who think we have none.
I think it a very powerful piece of movie making. I don't know if I could handle or really want a sequel.
District 9 is being played out at an Indian Reservation near you right now.

I watched it last night, and really enjoyed it. You can't really go by that though, because I like some pretty weird stuff!

I don't know how the humans could understand what they were saying. I had to read the subtitles!:)

Hopefully 3 years from now will happen next year! I would enjoy a sequel.

I thought the prawns were the sympathetic characters. They had the far superior weaponry and technology yet only used it in self-defense and to try to go home. The father/son relationship was very touching.

So is Christopher coming back for a rescue mission or to wage war?

Three years...

I enjoyed Holmes. It had a plot, a story line, good photography and a great soundtrack of Irish jigs during the boxing matches and credits.

I liked District 9, it looks and sounds great on blu-ray.
