I recently bought a (supposedly) brand new 686 that looked suspect. I haven’t bought a new Smith for a long time. I can’t remember if they came in a plastic bag like the Colts, or not. Mine came in the blue box with one sheet of that brown paper. I didn’t see any other paperwork. The gun has issues. Borderline lemon.

So do new S&Ws come in a plastic bag?

Thanks.
I didn’t see the paperwork.

I suspect this gun was sold. Then returned to the distributor. Then sold to me thru a local gun shop. It certainly was the dirtiest new gun I’ve ever bought. And, yes, I know they’re test fired.

In my case, 2 K-Frames, A pretty nice plastic case, the gun laying in a wax paper, manual, papers, 2 keys for the junky worthless locks.. J-Frame in a pretty nice cardboard box, Gun in a plastic type of rapper, paper work $ 2 keys.. Call the phone no. at the back of the manual, if you got a manual, they will email you a FedEx return shipping label, Had to send in my 617 twice. The second gun smith was great, He fixed 5 problems. I have 4 great Smith revolvers now, Good Luck..

The distributor didn’t have any.
Then, all of a sudden, they had one.
After I gave the local dealer the go-ahead, it took a week for the gun to come in, which is odd. It usually takes 2-3 days.

This scenario has several questionable elements. Maybe I’ve watched too many mystery shows.

The last ones I’ve purchased came in a plastic bag inside the box. My 43c purchased six months ago comes home with a new bag every time it comes back from warranty.

610-3 came in a plastic bag, documents were under the foam on the top portion of the case.

My V-Comp i picked up the other day was in brown paper with the manual, accessories and lock under the top foam.
