We have been to a ton of graduation parties, family reunions, (non school) sports banquets, picnic, etc.... all summer. In general, I haven't carried to any of them.
Our county parks do not allow any firearms so those parties are out without thought. Some events have been at private homes that I wouldn't want to make the homeowners or guests uncomfortable if they were to somehow know I was carrying.
Tonight was a season-ending soccer party at a family of shooters home. Their two boys took karate, played sports and went to school together with my boys. We have known the family for 12 years. We belong to the same range and his boys have shot trap with my youngest. I know the home owners wouldn't mind but I don't know about the other guests. So rather than potentially create a scene I just carried my Benchmade folder and no gun.
I haven't felt like I needed to carry or experienced any sort of threat at any party but I have felt somehow naked.
When do you carry or when do you pass at parties or events? Does your spouse "guide" you one way or another?
